Counterfit formed in 1999 in Connecticut and soon set out for San Diego, where we were fortunate to build a loyal local following of really excellent people who seemed to enjoy our mix of angular post-hardcore and melodic punk music.

We released two EPs, one full-length, toured a shit-ton, and got to share the stage with some of our favorite bands, including Hot Rod Circuit, Saves the Day, Cursive, Mock Orange, and so many others. We also blew about 700 tires, had one heart attack, lost thousands of dollars of gear to theft and general neglect, and signed several pieces of legally-binding paper that we definitely should not have signed. So, let’s call it a mixed bag.
 
We broke up in 2004 because we fucking hated each other. Just kidding, but we were really tired and had been put through the industry ringer, and felt like it was just time to do other stuff. So we did other stuff for about 20 years, and now it seems like a fun idea to play some of these songs again. So we’re here to do that, and we really hope you have as much fun listening to it as we do playing it.
