Thought Trials is a post-rock band based in Buffalo, NY, known for crafting deeply emotive and haunting soundscapes. The project began as a solo endeavor by Josh Martin during the pandemic, where he wrote, recorded, and mixed all early releases. In 2022 a brain cancer diagnosis changed the course of Josh’s life, shaping the themes of the next two concept albums: Cycles and This Has Always Been With You. The latter gained critical attention and was released through Post. Recordings, solidifying Thought Trials’ home in the post-rock and post-rock adjacent genres.

In 2024, the project expanded into a full band. Josh brought together Adam Summers (guitar), Zack Schoedel (bass), and Chris Wall (drums), infusing Thought Trials’ music with new layers of intensity and collaboration. Together, the band has been crafting an intricate and emotionally resonant live set, which they will unveil in 2025, including a performance at Post. Festival.
